The Vulcan was designed by the same man who designed the Lancaster bomber, Roy Chadwick, and he started only 5 years after the Lanc entered service. There is a good documentary on Netflix called the Last Flight of the Vulcan Bomber. It’s hosted by Guy Martin and has some good detail.

One of my all time favorite photos from this era of aviation. Love the anti-flash white. I’ll have to check out that documentary. Thanks for the tip.

I wrote about the demise of the Arrow today. Another of my favorite Avro Canada designs, the plane that gave us the word “jetliner.”

Watched that documentary last year. He has one on Spitfire restoration as well. Very interesting and I recommend them both.

My grand father flew Vulcans from R.A.F. Scampton.

Heading on over to Netflix then.
Not too many cooler names you could pick for a plane. I’m reminded of the line from alternate universe Spock in Mirror Mirror , “...my operatives would avenge my death, and some of them are Vulcans.”

If the Vulcan was dropping them then there wouldn’t have been sides for much longer...
